Erin Patterson’s connection to sites where death cap mushrooms were reportedly spotted comes up in a murder trial, according to Victoria sources.

The analysis of Erin Patterson’s mobile phone records suggests she may have visited two locations shortly after reports of death cap mushroom sightings, according to the court. Patterson, 50, has pleaded not guilty to three charges of murder and one charge of attempted murder in relation to the lunch she served at her house in Leongatha, Victoria. She is accused of murdering her estranged husband Simon’s parents, Don and Gail Patterson, and his aunt Heather Wilkinson, as well as attempting to murder Ian Wilkinson, Simon’s uncle and Heather’s husband. The court also heard that Patterson may have visited Loch and Outtrim in the months leading up to the lunch, where two posts about death cap mushroom sightings were made on a citizen science website. However, Patterson’s lawyers argue that the poisoning was accidental. The trial continues.
