A former bikie gang leader has been arrested among 14 individuals charged this week in Sydney for a series of alleged antisemitic attacks. Authorities suggest the attacks were orchestrated to divert police attention from organized crime or to influence legal proceedings.
On Tuesday, 32-year-old Sayed Moosawi, a former president of the Nomad bikie chapter, pleaded not guilty to three charges related to two alleged arson incidents at Bondi Beach in October. He’s accused of directing a criminal group and being involved in arson attacks on a brewery and a kitchen.
Two men, Guy Finnegan, 31, and Craig Bantoft, 37, had previously pleaded guilty to setting the brewery on fire based on directions from a person identified as “James Bond” in an encrypted messaging app.
New South Wales police have charged the 14 individuals with 65 offenses related to these incidents and announced that the caravan plot containing explosives and a list of Jewish targets, initially considered terrorism, was a “con job” to distract the police.
