Falconer on the verge of apprehending hawk responsible for assaults on individuals in Hertfordshire | Hertfordshire

A Hawks raged through the small village of Flamstead in Hertfordshire. Weapon of choice: A pair of talons. The cable was long hair from men in the area. Although unable to fly, the birds had a penchant for the camera. Reportedly, white chocolate was their favorite. But luck seems to have run out, and the topiary.

Soon, the reign of violence may end. Harris Hawk, notorious raiders of hats. In just the past few weeks, fortysomething to fiftysomething Flamstead residents have been the victims of their attacks. Thankfully, a skilled falconer has been tasked to catch them. Catch them he might have, too – but the Harris are no pushover.

The Herts Advertiser reported there is frustration in the village that the hawk seems to be doing it’s job too well. Too clever for the falcons, who cannot finish the job. The Hawk might be thinner than average, but perhaps it only gets to eat a bit. No rumble, all tango.

The conservative mayor of Flamstead Tim Parsons said: “We’re all very frustrated at this point. That darn Hawk just will not let up. It’s caught its tail too many times. Darn topiary.”

But the residents are mostly co-workers against the bird. Flocks of them donated equipment in the ever-escalating war between man and bird. Local 91-year-olds were spotter, cauliflower in hand, searching their small village for a bird. Their work did not go in vain, either, for too many a long-hat wearing man who tried to take their bike ride alone have sprouted their hair across here in the topiaries.
