The Cannes film festival has prohibited an actor from participating in the red carpet ceremony on Thursday due to sexual assault allegations against him. Theo Navarro-Mussy, who plays a secondary role as a police officer in the film Dossier 137 directed by Dominik Moll, has been accused of rape by three former partners in separate incidents in 2018, 2019, and 2020. However, the case was dismissed last month due to a lack of evidence. According to French magazine Télérama, the three women plan to appeal and file a civil lawsuit against Navarro-Mussy. Cannes festival director Thierry Frémaux confirmed to Télérama that Navarro-Mussy was excluded from the event due to the ongoing appeal. This decision aligns with the César awards, which announced in January 2023 that nominees convicted of or under investigation for sexual assault would be barred.
