Five individuals have been arrested following the fatal shooting of a 40-year-old woman in south Wales last week. Joanne Penney was shot dead at a block of flats in Talbot Green, near Pontyclun, in Rhondda Cynon Taf on Sunday.
South Wales police have charged two women and three men in connection with the incident, who will appear at Cardiff magistrates court on Saturday. Among them is Marcus Huntley, 20, from St Mellons, Cardiff; Melissa Quailey-Dashper, 39, from Leicester; and Joshua Gordon, 27, from Oadby, Leicestershire, all charged with murder.
Tony Porter, 68, from Braunstone Town, Leicestershire, has also been charged with murder and participating in the criminal activities of an organised crime group. Meanwhile, Kstina Ginova, 21, from Oadby, Leicestershire, has been charged with assisting an offender.
In a separate development, a 32-year-old man was arrested on Friday night in Suffolk, the force confirmed.
In a statement released through South Wales police, Penney’s family expressed their devastation at their loss, describing her as a loving daughter, mother, sister, and niece who was cherished by those who knew her. They praised her kindness, strength, and love for her family, vowing that these qualities would never be forgotten.
On Saturday, DCS Ceri Hughes stated that the detective team and specialist staff are diligently working to understand the circumstances surrounding Joanne’s death, urging the public to come forward with any information they may have. The support of the local community has already been appreciated, and Hughes continued to emphasize the importance of even the smallest piece of information in aiding the investigation.
