A weekend of heavy rain is expected to affect various parts of Australia as wet conditions in Queensland move towards the east and a tropical low off the Western Australian coast potentially develops into a cyclone. Significant rainfall, reaching up to 100mm, is forecasted for Sydney, Brisbane, and Canberra on Saturday. Showers are also anticipated in Melbourne with the temperature dropping slightly over the weekend. As the rain eases on Sunday, strong winds are expected to affect the eastern coast. Meanwhile, in Western Australia, a tropical low could bring heavy rain, damaging winds, and possibly develop into a tropical cyclone, with the potential for significant weather impacts from the weekend. Most capital cities will see showers over the coming days, sparing Adelaide and Perth which are forecast a sunny and dry weekend. Increased temperatures across Australia and the exacerbation of extreme weather events are attributed to the ongoing climate crisis.
