Health minister Andrew Gwynne sacked over WhatsApp comments

MP removed from government and suspended from Labour party over posts on internal group

Andrew Gwynne, a minister in the Department of Health and Social Care, has been sacked from thee government over comments posted on an internal WhatsApp group.

Gwynne, 50, the MP for Gorton and Denton, has also been suspended by the Labour party over the messages reported by the Mail on Sunday.

A government spokesperson said on Saturday: “The prime minister is determined to uphold high standards of conduct in public office and lead a government in the service of working people.
