Jodie Comer reportedly set to reprise her Prima Facie role for a final tour | Theatre

Jodie Comer is set to reprise her Olivier and Tony award-winning role in “Prima Facie” for a final tour next year, including a stop in her hometown of Liverpool. The monologue, penned by Suzie Miller, follows a barrister who defended alleged rapists before becoming an assault victim herself. Comer made her West End debut in the role in 2022, which went on to break box-office records during its run as part of the NT Live series. She took the show to Broadway in 2023 and also recorded an audiobook adaptation. Comer expressed gratitude for the opportunity, stating it would be a fitting end to a significant chapter in her career. The tour will kick off at Richmond theatre on January 23, 2026, and travel to multiple locations, concluding at the Liverpool Playhouse in March. Comer and Miller underscore the importance of the play’s exploration of the legal system’s handling of sexual assault cases, with Miller arguing the current court structure is inadequate. The production team’s research included observing real trials, and the show has partnered with organizations like the Schools Consent Project and Everyone’s Invited to provide platforms for victims’ stories. The tour is a result of the play’s success in both London and New York, broadening its impact and the conversation around its themes. “Prima Facie” is directed by Justin Martin, with a soundtrack composed by Rebecca Lucy Taylor, who also set to perform her new album, “A Complicated Woman Live,” at the Duke of York’s theatre.
