The United Nations has insisted that Israel’s investigations into the unlawful killings in Gaza, including the “double-tap” bombing of Nasser hospital, must yield results and hold individuals accountable. The Israeli military released initial findings of its investigation, claiming soldiers targeted a camera used by Hamas in the Nasser hospital area and that six of those killed were “terrorists.” However, the statement did not address why Israel conducted a double-tap strike on medics and journalists or if anyone would be held accountable for civilian deaths. Research has shown that 88% of Israel’s investigations into war crime allegations in Gaza were closed without resolution or accountability measures. Meanwhile, thousands of residents have fled Gaza City as Israel continues its military campaign.
