Liberal candidate issues apology concernant Anzac Day pamphlet which included electoral material and connections to voting guide | Australian election 2025

Liberal candidate Grange Chung has apologised for distributing a booklet commemorating Anzac Day that also contained political messages and linked to a how-to-vote card. The booklet, authorised by the NSW Liberal party, featured images of Chung in military uniform, which the Defence department strongly discourages veterans from using to avoid any perception of political partisanship. The publication, sent through mail, included details on local Anzac Day services, personal messages from Chung, and references to the Sandakan death marches. Chung acknowledges the significance of Anzac Day and his responsibility for the brochure. Both major parties, including Peter Dutton and Anthony Albanese, have pledged to limit political campaigning on Anzac Day. Other Liberal candidates have also faced criticism for using similar military imagery in campaign materials. The Defence department reiterates its stance against the use of military attire in political publications.
