On Monday evening, New York City police responded to reports of an armed suspect on Park Avenue in Manhattan, where four people, including an NYPD officer, were killed in a shooting. The gunman later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The suspect was identified as 27-year-old Shane Devon Tamura from Las Vegas. According to police, Tamura shot people in the lobby of an office building and then took the elevator to the 33rd floor, where he killed another person. New York mayor Eric Adams confirmed that Didarul Islam, a Bangladeshi immigrant and security guard, was one of the victims. Witnesses described people exiting the building with their hands raised, and photos showed emergency responders at the scene. The FBI provided support to the crime scene and advised those in the area to shelter in place. Illustrated: park avenue in Manhattan on Monday night.
