Police investigating a brazen street shooting in Fawkner, Melbourne, have said the incident was a “planned and targeted attack” that could have resulted in harm to innocent bystanders. The victim was lured to a home under the pretense of providing a quote for a tradie job and shot in the ankle. Surveillance footage shows the shooter fleeing the scene in a 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC. The vehicle was found to have cloned number plates and has not been located. Investigators also stated that the address was chosen randomly and there was no connection to anyone living on that street. Another witness at the scene described the shooter as an African-looking male, around 182cm tall, with a slim build, dark hair, and brown eyes. Detective Inspector Adam Tilley believed the incident was a “planned and targeted attack” and acknowledged the frightening experience it could have caused to people in the area. Police are currently conducting an investigation and are asking for anyone with information to come forward.
