Former Vice President Mike Pence has criticized President Donald Trump’s policies, stating that the imposition of tariffs will lead to a “price shock” and potential shortages. He believes this will force public pressure on Trump to change his approach. In one of his most comprehensive critiques of Trump’s presidency, Pence accused the White House of “wavering support for Ukraine” and directly contradicted Trump’s assurances by stating that Russian President Vladimir Putin “doesn’t want peace.” Pence received the John F Kennedy Profile in Courage award for resisting pressure from Trump to overturn the 2020 presidential election’s certification. He also expressed his disappointment in Trump’s decision to pardon individuals involved in the attack on the US Capitol and argued that the tariffs policy would not benefit the American people but instead result in inflation and harm consumers and the economy. Pence also criticized Trump’s stance towards Canada and called it a “great ally.”
