American Idol music supervisor Robin Kaye and her husband, musician Thomas Deluca, were found dead in their Encino home on Monday, after police responded to a welfare check and discovered a double homicide.
Authorities reported finding blood outside the couple’s $4.5m house before discovering their bodies with gunshot wounds in separate rooms.
Although there were reports of a burglary at the Encino residence, police confirmed that there were no signs of forced entry or disturbance.
On 10 July, police arrested 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian, who allegedly tried to burglarize the couple’s home and shot and killed Kaye and Deluca when they caught him in the act.
An American Idol spokesperson expressed their condolences, calling Kaye a “cornerstone” of the Idol family since 2009 and shared their deepest sympathy with her family and friends.
Kaye and Deluca, both 70, were well-known figures in the Los Angeles music scene. Kaye served as a music producer for 15 seasons of American Idol, also working on shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Miss Universe, and The Singing Bee. Deluca was a singer and songwriter, releasing his albums Down to the Wire and Street Rock, and composing for artists like Kid Rock, Micky Dolenz, and Diesel.
