A 13-year-old girl has been charged with murder and arson following the discovery of a woman’s body in a house fire in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. The woman, believed to be Marta Bednarczyk, 43, was found dead at the property shortly after 3am on Monday. A forensic postmortem confirmed that the cause of death was sharp force injury.

The child, whose name cannot be revealed for legal reasons, is set to appear at Northampton Magistrates Court on Wednesday to face charges of murder and arson. Det Ch Insp Johnny Campbell expressed his gratitude to the investigation team and extended his condolences to the woman’s family, who have cooperated fully during the difficult process.
