A major incident has been declared following a suspected gas explosion at a home in Nottinghamshire on Saturday evening that partially destroyed the property. Nearby homes in Worksop were evacuated as emergency services worked to account for all residents. The blast’s impact and potential casualties were initially unclear. Images on social media showed a severely damaged terrace house, with debris from the explosion covering part of the street. A witness reported hearing a loud bang similar to a firework while driving in the area. Karolina Ciolko, who lives nearby, described seeing smoke and her car rocking from the blast. Police Chief Inspector Neil Humphris stated that emergency services will remain at the scene throughout the night and multiple properties have been evacuated. The Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service received its first report of the incident at approximately 7:39 PM on Saturday, and firefighters from four stations responded. The nearby Crown Place community center has been opened as a place of safety for residents, and the public has been asked to avoid the area.
