NSW Southern Coast: Police Broaden Search for Missing Hiker Amid Looming Severe Weather | New South Wales

Police and emergency services are intensifying their search for a missing hiker in New South Wales’ south coast following a severe weather alert issued by the Bureau of Meteorology. Christopher Moore, a 38-year-old man, was last spotted on Wednesday afternoon when he was dropped off for a solo camping trip at Twelve Mile Road in Jerrawangala, approximately 30 kilometers south of Nowra. When he failed to arrive at the designated pick-up location on Friday, his family notified police, who initiated a search operation. The search effort involves various services including SES (State Emergency Service), RFS (Rural Fire Service), and National Parks, with additional crews mobilized due to the deteriorating weather conditions predicted to last a few days. The Bureau of Meteorology warns of gale-force winds and hazardous surf conditions along the NSW coast starting Tuesday evening. Concerns for Moore’s safety are growing, and he is described as a Caucasian male, about 180cm in height, with light brown hair and a beard. The public is encouraged to contact Nowra police or Crime Stoppers with any information.
