Following a collision between a tanker and a cargo vessel off the coast of England, the captain of the ship, who has been arrested, is a Russian citizen, according to Ernst Russ, the shipowner.
The rest of the crew on board the Solong consisted of individuals from Russia and the Philippines, the company confirmed.
The collision occurred on Monday morning when the Solong hit the Stena Immaculate off the east coast of Yorkshire.
After the search for a missing sailor on board the Solong, which was left adrift and on fire off the Yorkshire coast on Tuesday, Humberside police arrested a 59-year-old man on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter.
As of Wednesday morning, the suspect remained in police custody.
At the time of the collision, the Stena Immaculate was anchored. The impact resulted in significant fires and explosions, resulting in one crew member missing and presumed dead. The incident also led to the release of fuel into the sea, raising environmental concerns.
Additional information will be provided shortly.
