People in the northern hemisphere are currently gathering to witness the partial solar eclipse. The eclipse reached its peak in London at around 11 am on Saturday and was visible across parts of the UK between 10 am and noon. This phenomenon occurs when the moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, resulting in only 30-40% of the Sun being obscured from view in the UK. Astronomers and enthusiasts are enjoying the event and capturing it on telescopes equipped with protective glasses. The eclipse is a chance for people to observe the solar system in action. The eclipse, which lasted for approximately four hours, is the first of its kind this century. The next partial solar eclipse in the UK is expected in August 2026, although it will not be visible as a total solar eclipse until 2090.
