A woman who had a spear embedded in her head was airlifted to a hospital from a remote Northern Territory community, as the police search for her alleged attacker. On Sunday, a report was made claiming that the 18-year-old woman was stabbed in the head by a known male at Angurugu on the west coast of Groote Eylandt, an island in the Gulf of Carpentaria.
Local police and clinic staff were able to locate the victim, who was conscious with the spear still embedded. The woman was then airlifted to the Royal Darwin Hospital, where she is described as being in a serious but stable condition.
The authorities have also made a public appeal for information regarding the domestic violence incident, as the individual responsible for the attack remains at large.
