Pope Francis has had a peaceful night after experiencing a breathing crisis at Rome’s Gemelli hospital where he has been treated for pneumonia in both lungs for two weeks. The 88-year-old’s “isolated breathing crisis” led to vomiting and worsened his respiratory condition. While hospital officials stated that the crisis was brief, they will continue monitoring the pontiff over the next 24 to 48 hours to assess the impact on his health. The situation was no longer critical compared to the previous days when the pope’s condition showed slight improvements. Francis, who has had lung issues due to pleurisy and a removed lung, may require a long recovery, as advised by medical experts considering his age and existing respiratory problems. The Vatican informed that Francis spent the night resting and was continuing to work from his suite at the hospital.
