Nigel Farage presented 29 councillors who have joined Reform UK, aiming to move the party forward after the suspension of MP Rupert Lowe. He also addressed criticism directed at Reform’s chair, Zia Yusuf, who has faced online abuse and “outright racism.” Farage accused some of trying to intentionally cause harm and vowed to maintain a non-racist and non-sectarian stance. He claimed the recent turmoil caused by the Lowe suspension was “at the edges” of the party, which has been in disarray following the dispute between Farage and Lowe, who was referred to the police over bullying allegations. Despite Farage’s efforts to show unity, some supporters of Lowe have been leaving the party, including a Yorkshire councillor who intends to serve as an independent.
