A spokesperson from the Queensland Fire Department shared that a relative of the man informed authorities shortly after 1:30 PM that he had fallen into the silo located on a property near Eurombah, situated to the north of Roma.
The silica-based structure contained urea, a chemical often utilized as a fertilizer component.
The Queensland emergency crews, skilled in confined space and vertical rescue procedures, managed to secure the man in a safety harness while gradually draining the urea from the base of the silo.
By 4 PM, the urea level had been lowered to the man’s waist, and the rescue crew was using buckets to continue emptying the silo.
Supporting the ground crew was a rescue helicopter, alongside additional personnel from the Queensland Ambulance Service and Queensland Police.
