Russian missile attack on Zelenskyy’s hometown kills eighteen | Ukraine

A Russian missile strike in Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s hometown has resulted in the deaths of 18 individuals, encompassing nine children. According to a Ukrainian official, a total of 61 people were injured in the attack on Kryvyi Rih on Friday, with victims including a three-month-old infant and elderly locals. As of now, 40 individuals remain hospitalized, including two children in critical condition and 17 in a serious condition.

The missile impacted an area near residential buildings, hitting a playground and ordinary streets. Zelenskyy, Ukraine’s president, blamed the continuous strikes on Russia’s refusal to end the war, urging allies to pressure Moscow and strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses. He emphasized that the world possesses sufficient power to compel Russia to cease its terror and war tactics.

Oleksandr Vilkul, the head of the city’s defense council, stated that there can be no forgiveness for such atrocities and paid tribute to the victims.

The strike damaged approximately 20 apartment buildings, over 30 vehicles, an educational establishment, and a restaurant. The Russian defense ministry claimed responsibility for a high-precision missile strike on a restaurant, alleging the presence of unit commanders and western instructors. They stated that the strike killed 85 military personnel and foreign officers, and destroyed 20 vehicles. However, these claims cannot be independently verified and were rejected by the Ukrainian General Staff.

Subsequently, a drone strike in Kryvyi Rih resulted in the death of one woman and injuries to seven other individuals.
