Ryanair’s £79 Membership Offer Soars, But Which? Advises Caution | Ryanair

Ryanair has introduced a yearly membership program called Prime, offering benefits like complimentary reserved seats and affordable flights. However, consumer group Which? advises potential members to carefully review the terms and conditions before joining. The Prime membership costs £79 per person per year and provides 12 free seat reservations, travel insurance, and monthly access to exclusive sales. The terms and conditions reveal several limitations, including restricted availability of free reserved seats and paid upgrades for non-designated seats. The travel insurance only covers trips with Ryanair flights and excludes individuals over the age of 70 from medical protections. The membership also includes access to 12 member-only seat sales, but the details of how these differ from regular seat sales are unclear. The discounted fares and member seats are only available to those over 18, which restricts families from benefiting from these advantages. Editor of Which? Travel, Rory Boland, recommends caution before committing to the membership, highlighting the limitations in seat selection and lack of comprehensive travel insurance. Other low-cost airlines like Wizz and EasyJet also offer membership schemes with varying levels of discounts and benefits.
