Six individuals aboard a small plane that crashed in San Diego on Thursday morning were confirmed deceased, officials stated, as investigations into the incident and victim identification are underway. According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), local authorities will release the names of the victims. The plane’s pilot and passengers suffered fatal injuries, with no ground fatalities or serious injuries reported. Fire triggered by the impact destroyed the plane and damaged nearby homes and vehicles. The cause of the Cessna 550 Citation crash before 4 a.m. will be investigated over the next year. The plane was carrying a music executive and five others, including three Sound Talent Group employees: co-founder Dave Shapiro, Kendall Fortner, and Emma Huke. The crash occurred in the Murphy Canyon community, damaging approximately 10 homes, leaving jet fuel in the area, and causing eight individuals to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries and smoke inhalation. It is yet to be determined whether the pilot was aware of a notice regarding malfunctioning runway and glide-path lighting at the airport.
