Two Scottish men were shot and killed outside a bar in southern Spain. The incident occurred outside Monaghans, an Irish-themed bar in the coastal town of Fuengirola, Málaga, around 11pm on Saturday. A masked man fired at the victims before fleeing the scene on foot. They both died at the scene. According to Javier Salas, the deputy government delegate in Málaga, both individuals were believed to be Scottish nationals. The Guardian Civil’s violent crime unit is currently leading the investigation. Monaghans Irish bar, a popular pub among British tourists and expats, was reportedly busy on Saturday night with football fans watching the Champions League final. Witnesses described the event as frightening, with some mistaking the gunfire for fireworks. The Foreign Office stated that they have yet to be approached for consular assistance, but their staff is prepared to provide support to any British nationals in need. Local police have been contacted for further comments.
