Jill Sobule, a renowned singer-songwriter, passed away in a house fire at the age of 66. Sobule, known for her hits Supermodel from the Clueless movie soundtrack and the groundbreaking song I Kissed a Girl, was found deceased in her home in Woodbury, Minnesota. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Sobule’s manager, John Porter, confirmed the tragic loss in a statement to the Minnesota Star Tribune. He described her as “a force of nature and human rights advocate whose music is woven into our culture.” Porter expressed his deep sadness over the loss of both a client and a friend, hoping that Sobule’s music and legacy continue to inspire others.

Her eponymous 1995 album featured two of her biggest hits: Supermodel from the Clueless movie soundtrack and I Kissed a Girl. The latter was notable for being one of the first openly LGBTQ-themed songs to enter the Billboard top 20 singles chart, peaking at No. 20 in 1995.
