Over 400 guests were evacuated early Friday morning from a Hilton hotel in Surfers Paradise after two fires erupted.
Six fire crews responded to the fire at the Hilton, with the first crew arriving shortly after 2am, as per reports from the Queensland Fire Department.
Upon their arrival, they discovered a fire on the roof, with embers from the blaze causing a second fire on the lower levels.
Fire crews successfully put out the fires just before 2:30am.
No fire investigators were needed, and the Hilton hotel is handling the investigation into the cause of the fire.
A local, Ralph Kogler, saw the hotel’s roof on fire after being woken by a loud noise at 2am.
Dye, a Melbourne Cup-winning jockey who resides near the affected tower, described the fire’s intensity, with flames visible from his window.
