Tesla experienced a significant increase in sales in the UK, with over a fifth more cars sold last month compared to the previous year, despite potential backlash from buyers due to Elon Musk’s controversial behavior. The Model 3 and Model Y remained among the most popular electric vehicles, pushing Tesla’s market share up from 3.75% to 4.6% despite an overall decline in the market. Sales of full electric vehicles rose as buyers sought to avoid new taxes on expensive cars set to take effect in April. Despite Musk’s involvement in European political affairs and support for far-right parties, his actions have not yet negatively impacted Tesla’s sales in the UK. Conversely, sales of new Tesla cars nearly halved in Europe last month, while early numbers in China indicated a considerable drop in exports and retail sales amid a Model Y changeover.
