Dolly Parton’s husband, Carl Dean, passed away at the age of 82, marking the end of a nearly 60-year-long relationship.
The singer’s publicist released a statement announcing that Dean’s funeral will be a private affair, attended only by close family members.
Parton expressed her deep love for Dean, stating, “Words cannot capture the essence of the love we shared over 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and support,” in a heartfelt message.
Respect for the family’s privacy has been requested during this difficult time, and no details regarding the cause of death have been disclosed.
The country music icon met Dean by chance when she moved to Nashville at 18, outside a laundromat named Wishy Washy.
Parton remembered the encounter fondly, noting Dean’s uncommon interest in her, which stood out to her.
Throughout their relationship, Parton and Dean maintained a level of privacy, with Parton once playfully suggesting Dean might be a fictional character created to ward off others.
Dean was a businessman, owning an asphalt-paving business in Nashville, and was remembered fondly by Parton, who referenced his mother affectionately as “Mama Dean.”
He leaves behind Parton and his two siblings, Sandra and Donnie.
Further information will be provided as available.
