There are allegations by lawyers claiming the Sudanese paramilitary units have carried out violent attacks on villages resulting in the deaths of nearly 300 individuals.

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a paramilitary group in Sudan, have been accused of killing nearly 300 people in attacks in the North Kordofan state, which began on Saturday. According to Sudanese activists, the RSF has been involved in a civil war in Sudan since April 2023, and they attacked several villages around the city of Bara, which they control. In one village, Shag Alnom, over 200 people were killed through arson or gunshot, while looting raids in other villages resulted in the deaths of 38 civilians and the disappearance of dozens of others. The RSF allegedly attacked the village of Hilat Hamid the following day, killing 46 people including pregnant women and children, and forcing over 3,400 people to flee. It has been claimed that the targeted villages were devoid of any military objectives, highlighting the criminal nature of these actions disregarding international humanitarian law. The RSF is blamed for war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide by the US and human rights groups, with RSF soldiers accused of violent looting raids across the country. The RSF leadership has stated that they will bring to justice those responsible for such acts. The civil war in Sudan has resulted in the world’s largest humanitarian crisis, with more than half the population facing hunger and the spread of diseases such as cholera across the country. Assistance has been strained due to a reduction in global aid spending.
