Tigray’s Atrocities: Rape, Pregnancy Coercion, and Sexual Abuse Constitute Human Rights Violations, According to Investigation – Global News

Hundreds of health workers have documented systematic sexual violence in Tigray, including mass rape, sexual slavery, forced pregnancy, and sexual torture of women and children by Ethiopian and Eritrean soldiers. A report by Physicians for Human Rights and the Organization for Justice and Accountability in the Horn of Africa (OJAH) provides comprehensive documentation of weaponised sexual violence in Tigray. The conflicts thus amount to crimes against humanity, the report states.

According to the research, health workers have treated patients ranging from infants to elderly individuals. Many survivors are still living in displaced persons’ camps. There is conclusive evidence of crimes against humanity, including mass rape and enforced sterilisation, the report concludes.
