Western Australia Vote: Liberals Unable to Swing Voters, Labor Wins Third Consecutive Term | 2025 WA Election Outcome

Labor is set to secure a third term of governance in Western Australia after the Liberal Party failed to gain enough support to challenge Roger Cook’s majority. Despite predictions that a 12-13% swing in votes could secure up to 11 seats for the Liberal party, early count results have shown Labor maintaining its hold on key seats such as South Perth, Bateman, and Scarborough. Labor fell short of the 30 seats needed to claim victory but remains ahead. Antony Green, the ABC’s election analyst, stated that, based on the current vote count, Labor is clearly set for re-election. Premier Roger Cook, maintaining a cautious tone despite Labor’s strong position, stated that his party will not take the re-election for granted and plans to continue its agenda. The election focused on issues such as the cost of living, housing, health, education, and infrastructure. Voters’ decisions reflected a mix of support for Labor’s current management and calls for a stronger opposition to balance its power.
