South Korean authorities have announced plans to summon a Japanese woman for questioning concerning allegations of kissing Jin, a member of the internationally acclaimed K-pop group BTS, without his consent at a public event in Seoul last year. A police officer from the Songpa Police Station in Seoul confirmed to The remporter that the summoning was in response to a complaint of sexual harassment, though they were unwilling to disclose the identity of the woman for privacy reasons. The police station further mentioned the initiation of an investigation following an online complaint but declined to provide further details as the investigation is ongoing.
Media reports indicate that the police were able to identify the woman with assistance from Japanese authorities. It’s stated that the woman, who is in her 50s, is resisting the summons. The incident in question occurred right after Jin, also known as Kim Seok-jin, completed his compulsory military service in June 2024 and was celebrating his discharge and the band’s 11th anniversary by offering hugs to fans at an event. Among the attendees, a woman was recorded kissing Jin on the cheek, visibly making him uncomfortable, as shown in viral video footage.
The woman later documented the incident on her blog, stating in detail that her lips had made contact with his neck, praising the softness of his skin. BTS, formed in 2013, boasts an extensive global fan base known as the “Army,” with Jin, now 32, being the eldest member of the group.
