Saudi Arabia is set to host talks on Tuesday between the United States and Ukraine in a diplomatic effort aimed at resolving tensions following an argument between President Volodymyr Zelenskyys and President Donald Trump during Zelenskyys visit to the White House. The talks will take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with Saudi Arabia positioning itself as an ideal location for potential peace negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow.

The arguments between Zelenskyy and Trump occurred after the Oval Office meeting, where Trump scolded Zelenskyy for “gambling with World War III” and being disrespectful to the US. Consequently, Zelenskyy departed the White House without signing a deal that would have granted the US access to Ukraine’s rare earth minerals.

As a result, Zelenskyy plans to visit Saudi Arabia ahead of the talks, which will also involve US Secretary of State Marco Rubios and Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry stated that the country would continue to pursue a lasting peace to end the Ukrainian crisis.
