What is the National People’s Congress?

The National People’s Congress is China’s legislature, composed of nearly 3,000 delegates from various provinces, ministries, and interest groups. Its role is primarily ceremonial, as it does not hold real power to decide on legislation. However, it provides a unique opportunity to observe the central government’s priorities and future direction of policies through reports and speeches delivered during the event.
