An initiative launched by the UN, the “United to Deliver” report, suggests reforms in the structure and collaboration methodologies across UN entities. This initiative is part of the broader UN80 Initiative to enhance the UN’s efficiency and effectiveness in achieving its mandates and delivering on its pillars of peace and security, sustainable development, human rights, and humanitarian action. Highlighted are proposals like consolidating peace and security efforts, creating a New Humanitarian Compact, and establishing a UN Human Rights Group under the leadership of the High Commissioner. The report offers strategic pathways for achieving more efficient and integrated operations within the UN system, focusing on reducing duplication and silos, and increasing system-wide collaboration and impact. The report goes on to state several steps to be taken, with various measures already under the UN Secretary-General’s organizational purview, and others requiring active engagement from the member states. A briefing scheduled for 15 October 2025 with the President of the General Assembly aims to discuss the report’s proposals and garner support for its implementation.
