On Saturday, President Donald Trump announced that he has ordered airstrikes against the Houthi rebels in Yemen. In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that he has directed the United States Military to take decisive and powerful action against the Houthi terrorists in Yemen. He highlighted their continuous campaign of piracy, violence, and terrorism against American and other ships, aircraft, and drones. Trump also criticized former President Joe Biden’s response to the situation, noting that the unrestrained Houthis have continued to escalate their activities.
It has been over a year since a U.S. flagged commercial ship safely sailed through the Suez Canal, the Red Sea, or the Gulf of Aden. Additionally, US Navy ships have recently repelled an attack from the Houthis in the Gulf of Aden.
