However, the sport is not only popular in urban areas; it is gaining traction in rural regions as well. Local village basketball leagues have gained viral popularity and have been given the nickname “VBA” or “Village Basketball Association”. Local authorities see this as an opportunity to promote rural revitalization and capitalize on the phenomenon.
