Lavrov: US and Russia Working Together to Achieve Ukraine Ceasefire ahead, as President Putin Says Victory is Imminent – AP News

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that the United States and Russia are moving forward in the “right direction” to end the conflict in Ukraine.

“We are prepared to reach an agreement, but there are still some specific points – elements of this deal that need to be fine-tuned,” Mr. Lavrov told CBS News’ Face The Nation show, set to air on Sunday.

“We continue our contacts with the American side regarding the situation in Ukraine, there are several signs that we are heading in the right direction.”

This announcement follows the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv experiencing the largest attack since July of the previous year, resulting in at least 12 deaths and over 100 injuries.

Ukraine’s air force reported that a total of 215 drones and missiles were launched at the country by Russia on Wednesday night, with Kyiv being one of the most affected areas.

Ukrainian officials stated that rescue efforts were ongoing more than 12 hours after the strikes.

Mr. Trump expressed his dissatisfaction with the Russian strikes, stating them to be “not necessary” and “bad timing.” He urged for a peace deal to be finalized.
