Three family members killed and 12 injured in Zaporizhzhia as Russian drone strike targets Ukrainian city | Global Headlines

The Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia came under a Russian drone attack on Friday night, resulting in the deaths of a mother, father, and daughter, as well as injuries to 12 people. Despite an agreement in principle for a limited ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia earlier in the week, Zaporizhzhia was still targeted by 12 drones.

Regional head Ivan Fedorov stated that the attack caused buildings and cars to go up in flames and confirmed that the victims were from the same family. Former Defence Minister Wallace voiced his concern regarding the attack, given the limited ceasefire agreement between the two countries.

Rescue workers were seen clearing rubble and extinguishing fires following the attack. President Zelenskyy reported that Russia launched a total of 179 drones and decoys, with over a hundred being intercepted and others electronically jammed. The Russian Ministry of Defence also claimed to have shot down several Ukrainian drones.

Ukraine and Russia have traded accusations over attacks on critical infrastructure, including a Russian gas pumping station in a border area. The Russian Foreign Ministry warned that if the Kyiv regime continues its attacks, Russia may respond with a “symmetrical response.” President Zelenskyy visited the Donetsk region and met with commanders of drone units in Pokrovsk, where Ukrainian troops have been fending off Russian forces.
